We are settling into being home and have enjoyed some wonderful visits with family these last few days. Here are some good photos -- including Ava visiting with uncle David and aunt Elana (and cousins Adam and Jessica); with aunt Naomi (aka Aunty Ney), and with uncle David (the other uncle David, aka Sweetness, aka Rachel's bro).
I just realized tonight that we have been back from Houston for just under a week (it will be a week tomorrow). It feels like it has been longer than that. It's funny how settled we are starting to feel but also how long it takes to figure things out. I worked a full week of work this week and it was good to get back into the swing of things there. Every evening when I walk in the front door, I still can't get over the fact that Ava is part of our family -- such a blessing. Rachel has not yet gone back to work but she has been able to check in from home.
Tonight, we had a nice Friday night dinner at home with David and Elana and gang -- they brought over wonderful takeout from Sushi-Ko. So fun to have everyone together and Elana has been so great helping us with Baby Ava. Both cousins Jessica and Adam wanted to hold the baby and Jenny also got a turn (see the photos below). It's great to think about Ava being with all of her cousins.
This weekend, we will take it easy and continue to get more settled in. Hopefully, we'll also visit with more family, including Grandma Etu, Grandpa Eugenio (who will be getting back from Mexico tomorrow), and my brother Ben. Ava still sleeps a ton so she's not always the most entertaining host. But people are still happy to see her even if she is snoozing a lot. Funny thing is that she doesn't snooze at night as much as during the day. Hopefully we'll get that reversed soon, but for now we're fine with it.
Will post more later.
J.
